This month I have invested in a coaching programme, one that will significantly help me to grow my business.

At the end of 2020 I invested in some coaching because I knew that I had some to a plateau in my knowledge and was coasting.

Later this year I may invest in another course or some more coaching to grow further.

Whenever I sign up to a coach I always ask them who they are being coached by and on what topics. I want to invest in people who are growing themselves.

Since I encourage business owners to invest in coaching with me, I would expect them to find out what I'm learning and how I'm growing.

If you are a coach or consultant, ask yourself how you are investing in your business and learning?

Learn from those who are continually growing to be better in their business and in life.

Running a good business is about creating value.

If we create more value, we can charge more money. Right?

  • Is it doing your work with excellence?

  • Is is creating great bonus resources, tools, frameworks and guides?

  • Is it giving that extra time or going the extra mile?

  • Is it providing freebies, discounts or specials?

  • Is it being super personable, interested in your clients as though they are family?

  • Is it simply branding yourself so that you 'appear' to be exclusive or of high value?

The grocer might think that providing value is stuffing your grocery bag with extra produce.

Isn't this is good business?

Great business is knowing deeply what you need, and solving a painful problem.

A great business owner would chop, wash, dress and package a salad for you because they know that you are a busy professional and need a healthy lunch on the run.

This 'solution' is now worth 400% more than the raw ingredients.

Simply adding more raw ingredient does not necessarily deliver massive value.

Solving painful problems creates value.

Do it efficiently, create great results, charge more.

To your success

It is a common belief that guarding business secrets and not giving information away for free is good business tactics.

However, if you are facing a low conversion rate for your sales conversations and lead prospecting, it is possible that a lack of clarity about what your services entail, how it will work for the client, what results you will create and in what time frame, is in fact holding you back.

Radical transparency about what you do and how your offer works actually enhances your business conversations rather than detracts from them.

Free training, guides, taster sessions and case studies all educate your target prospect on how you work and in doing so inspires confidence in the value exchange [their money for your expertise].

Rather than holding a fear that by giving away knowledge you might inspire potential clients to believe they can solve their problems alone, in fact giving ample information in advance removes any confusion or obscurity around your offer and inspires trust in your expertise.

It comes down to the three reasons while people pay for consultants and service providers:

  1. Inability to get there on their own

  2. Desire to get there faster

  3. Desire to follow a proven system, map or advice from somebody who has done it

Showing what you do, how you solve problems and what results you create removes friction and opens up the conversation for a sale.

Clarity and confidence inspires trust. And business moves at the speed of trust.
